Isn’t this just the most contagious smile you’ve ever seen? Goodness me, I could not stop smiling while editing this session.

Say hello to the McAlpine Family. I am lucky enough that my Sister in law arranged this session for her sister as a gift. Isn’t that just the best gift? I spend a late afternoon with them, and the sun peeked through for us just a few minutes.. it’s my favorite time of the day to shoot and I think we got some really amazing images.

I had to use that bathtub for one more session.. at least both Wilhelm and Abigail were completely fascinated by this bathtub in the middle of nowhere.

Schulenburg. Family – South Africa

I’ve know Richard Schulenburg for all my life.. I remember being Abigail’s age and hanging out with the Schullies as we call them.. Over the next few weeks, I hope to blog all the Schulenburg Men and their Families. Meet Richard and his Family, oldest of 3 brothers.

The last image you’ll notice “De Loskop”, when I see that mountain it means “home” to me. The Schulenburg Family’s farms are located right at the foot of De Loskop.. and from where we live and my Family work, De Loskop is always in sight.

Thank you Madelein for all the effort you went through to put this session together. Even if the sun bailed on us.. I think these turned out gorgeous.

Abigail and the Bathtub. South Africa

I’ve always wanted to photograph Abigail in an old bathtub. One day I walked through my Mom’s shed and saw this bathtub. I immediately told her I want to take it out to the field and photograph Abigail in it. She just looked at me and said.. “Ok”.

Here’s little Abigail, she turned 4 in December. My heart is aching every single time in see her in some of my Images.. it’s proof, she growing. I know I say this every single time, but maybe it’s because she is my only child that I can’t stand the fact that she is growing up. She loves South Africa, the wide open spaces… warm sun, and non stop attention from all of my family members has her hooked on Africa.

I will be back in the US on the 22nd of February. I have some big news coming too.

I adore this Family, we had the strongest wind I have ever photographed in.. thunder all around us and still everyone were so content and happy to do whatever I asked of them. It means so much to me when my clients trust me, I always have your best interest at heart, and really I capture images like I want my Family to be Photographed.

It’s so important to have your family photographed.. Pieter and Roelien, I hope you enjoy these images for the years to come. And thank you, so so much, I had a wonderful time with you guys.

Meet this beautiful family. I have known both Zanelle and Stiaan for about 8 years now. We attended the same University, the University of Stellenbosh, in the Western Cape. I was so excited when Zanelle asked me to photograph their family, there is nothing more special to me, than to photograph old friends and their adorable new family member, Sebastiaan.

I flew to Cape Town and spend a weekend in Stellenbosh, the weather played along perfectly, and I am thrilled with the way this session turned out. Thank you Zanelle for inviting me to photograph your family. I wish you guys a Merry Christmas and a wonderful 2012. I hope to see you guys in the USA one of these days.

Location: Klein Constantia ( Where Stiaan is a wine agriculturist ). Klein Constantia is one of the most beautiful wine properties I have visited. If you ever get the chance, please do stop by and taste some of their amazing wines.

I’ve know Susan for over a year now and when her Mother contacted me to surprise her Family with a photo session I was so excited. It was kind of hard keeping it from Susan as she always figures things out.

The day of the session turned out to be a very cloudy, dark and rainy day.. the crazy part is most people would think that’s a horrible time to take pictures, and it could be, but I chose an area where there are lots of open space.. water and no dark shades. These images have a moody feel to them which for me makes them that extra bit special.

I love these Images. I hope you do too.

Sessions Photographed in 2009. I have gone back and selected some of my favorite Images from the past 2 years.

I recognize how my work has changed and I’m learning from mistakes I’ve made. Being a Photographer for the past 5 years has had some enormous ups and downs. I honestly LOVE what I do, but I am also my worst critique.. and delivering products that I am proud of is my first priority. I remember way back in the day in one of my many biographies on my many different blogs I wrote that: ” I would not be happy giving a client a product that I, myself am not 100% satisfied with and proud of. ” This is still my goal today.

It has taken many years and many mistakes to be the person/photographer I am today.

This is how I speak, this is my language. I am fortunate to have visited, resided in many different states, different countries. I’ve realized that each state has it’s own “language”… I don’t always speak the right language, I am not always able to express my true feelings, my true meaning. I am thankful for photography. I am grateful for a talent that I’ve come to realize is so precious.

I photographed this session at the end of 2009. I have great memories from South Carolina (where these were photographed) and it makes me happy to look at these images. I’ll be posting a few old sessions.. sessions that’s never been shared on this blog.

I loved that little Children cottage in the garden. I wish I could build something like that. Lately i’ve been doing some building of my own. I”ll share images once I am done. I am making Abigail some frames for her playroom.
