O’Reilly {Family} South Africa

This little bundle was born on a Sunday morning.. why do I remember this? Well because I was photographing one of our other friends that morning and the cellphone rang. The only thing I could make out from Tania’s conversation is that it was Lielie on the other line, and she wanted to know if Tania knew something about Marika giving birth.. hiehie!

I was delighted for 2 reasons. 1. Marika and Brian now have a healthy brand new bundle of joy. 2. I will get to photograph princess O’Reilly.

When I thought about doing a newborn session, I didn’t want to go back to doing the traditional thing. (I love the traditional thing, but wanted something different) I told Marika, lets get a big Iron bed and place it in the middle of the field…. and well when that didn’t work out. Walking in the middle of the field just had to do, and If I have to say so myself. I think these Images could not have turned out better.

Congratulations Brian and Marika, I wish you all the best with your journey as parents. Please come visit us in the states?

Bornman {Family} South Africa

There is nothing more satisfying than a returning client. I photographed Ethan about 1.5 years ago for a project dad had for his Paint (Paint It) in Pietersburg, and was thrilled that this time I got to photograph little brother Elijah.

I was so happy when Olivia emailed and asked if I have a spot open for them. So when the date approached Olivia wanted to have a “natural” setting for this family session and we decided that our farm would be the perfect place.

My grandfather has this favorite spot on the farm .. the “pannetjie” . It’s a natural man made pond/waterhole. February month is not only one of the warmest months in South Africa, but also the end the summer rain season, so the grass was the perfect shade of yellow – green and knee high. I think it was a fun adventure for these boys to come play in the field, and I was surprised, because they were not scared of a thing.

Thank you so much Herman and Olivia for taking the drive out to the farm. I love the images captured. I hope to see you guys again on my next trip to South Africa.
