Eugene & Vanessa {Wedding} – South Africa

One Saturday morning I woke up and my good friend Rensche Mari invited me to photograph a wedding with her in Pretoria, South Africa. I was extremely excited and honored to be shooting with Rensche as we have been friends for about 8 years now and never photographed a Wedding together. I was also slightly nervous (sssshhh don’t tell Rensche) as Rensche has more than 60 weddings under her belt and me being a newbie this was set to be an exciting day.

Abigail Reese Cabanillas {Children} – Tacoma, WA

Prepping this post had me in tears a few times for a few reasons. Abigail loved the farm, she loved the freedom she had there. The moment she opened her eyes she bolted for the door. She wanted to be outside the whole day. Playing in the dirt, running bare foot.. picking flowers in the garden. She amazed me with her Fearlessness, Independence and Strong Will.

We miss the farm so much. I miss my Mother. My brother. My family. I love living in the United States, we have so much to be thankful here. But the hardest part of living here is the constant longing for family time. I am fortunate enough to be connected via skype with my family EVERY SINGLE DAY. If not for that, I don’t know how I will survive. When skype rings on my computer Abigail runs down the hallway yelling… “ouma ouma ouma” (grandmother in Afrikaans). Thanks to Skype my daughter (and me) can stay connected with Ouma.

Quick fact:
Abigail was born in South Africa. Her daddy was serving in Iraq during my pregnancy and returned for 18 days when she was born. He made her birth in 2 hours. ♡ Our small family reunited again when Abigail was 9 months old. She has dual Citizenship.

These Images were taken a few days before we left South Africa just behind our house on my grandfathers farm Bellevue. Enjoy.

Rensche van Dyk STUNNING!!!!! Just love the crate. Pablo Love my daughter's character captured in all the images. I miss the farm as well and passing time in the bush. Hope to be back next year. Ouma mis die Coco Pops in die oggend, die badsessies ag alles. Maar ek weet jy is gelukkig daarom is dit ok met my!! DANKIE SKYPE. Jy is gelukkig om jou Oom en Tannie in Kanada te he!! Dankie vir hulle wat jou die naweek kom help!!! Die foto's is skitterend!!! Stuur asb almal saam Rensche!! Lief jou baie en mis julle baie!!!!! Moeder Rita Hi Sus!! Agge nee!!! Ek sit nie om die vuur en huil nie, ek sit alleen in Athabasca en huil!!! Die foto's is pragtig en die van ouma en kleinding is skitterend!! Wil ook van hulle hê. My kids, (6 and 7years old) asking allll the time after "how about our family members?" You'll see, as soon as she going to school and make friends, you gonna be more happier and your friends gonna make you more comfortable here. I promise, you gonna have a great time!
