HAPPY DANCE, HAPPY DANCE.
It’s finally here! My new Horizontal Website + Blog. I started on this project back in August of 2009 after I received my NEW branding from Luxecetera. They did an amazing job, and I felt like my brand deserves a custom designed website/blog to truly shine. I did a ton of research and navigated many other websites trying to find exactly what it is that I wanted, and even then it was so hard to get it in words.

One thing I knew is that it had to be HORIZONTAL. When I attended Photography school, every friday we had a “crit” (critique) on our set assignments for that week, since then I felt like my images flow better when displayed next to each other. They made sense to me, to my eye, and most importantly, told the story I wanted them to tell. I never hesitated about what I wanted, I knew in my head how to display my work, but when the time came to verbalize it. I hit a wall.

I have never been very well at explaining what I want, and writing it down too often ended up on the trash bin. (I am working on the writing part.) What saved my life was a good designer. She understood what I wanted in a brand so well, and I have to say, she did an absolutely amazing job in reading me on what I wanted from this project. Thank you Ashley!

I knew going Horizontal will bring it’s challenges, the biggest challenge and requirement for me was originality. My favorite Photographer in the Industry (I have a few, but this girl takes the cake) Sarah Rhoads have a horizontal blog, and I didn’t want to step on anyone’s toes.
I was extremely nervous and honestly felt like pulling the plug a few times. Especially when I found out late October that we will be relocating to Tacoma, WA. (Just down the street from Sarah Rhoads), and then Ashley showed me her design, i was jumping with joy. I was more than delighted with the design and knew that my dream of having my business grow and spread its wings with something original and amazing can now be a reality.

I was so happy when Jani contacted me a few months ago to let me know she is pregnant. I know Jani since we were 14 years old, we attended the same high school. After high school our paths separated as she attended the University of Pretoria (Tukkies) and I went to Stellenbosch University.

Tukkies is where Jani met her love – Cobus. They are such a perfect Match for each other.

Thank you guys for contacting me to take these very special photographs. I wish you all the luck with the little one’s birth in a few weeks. Welcome to parenthood, there is honestly nothing better in life.

I was fortunate enough to have my very good friend Rensche Mari from Picksee Photography join me on this session. I joined Rensche a few weeks back on one of her beautiful weddings, so she returned the favor and helped me shoot. It was fun working with you Rensche. We make a good team *wink* *wink*
